At Quinta da Regaleira, it was obviously the Initiation Well—we’d never seen anything like it before—but also the manor house. I thought it was fantastic. My favorite part was the mosaic floor; I could have stared at it forever. So beautiful! I loved the entire country house; everything was put together with such taste and was so unique. And the garden—everything was just right, impressive! I highly recommend visiting this place!

One of the most beautiful and magical places I've ever visited. Stunning buildings and gardens. The palace is absolutely beautiful, and the gardens are like something out of a fairy tale. You must buy your ticket online; otherwise, you won't be able to enter. I highly recommend a visit.

A spectacular place. Everything is beautifully maintained. A must-see when you visit Sintra. It will surprise you at every turn. It’s like stepping into a late 19th-century manor house

The gardens of the Pena Palace and the Quinta da Regaleira were well worth seeing, and you could easily spend hours there. Both deserve top marks. Only the Pena Palace itself is a terrible rush job. The view from the Pena Palace is beautiful, though.

We booked through this website for €25 per person for the 11 a.m. time slot. We walked up from the Sintra train station—it’s an easy 15- to 20-minute walk—but you can also take the 434 bus by buying tickets right at the station (€13.60 per person, since they only sell day passes and not individual tickets). We arrived early, worried it might be crowded, but it turned out to be just fine. We went in at 10:45 a.m.—not many people around. Some areas were closed due to construction, but it was no big deal. You can explore the park in any order you like; a map is available at the main points of interest. We really liked the well, the caves, and the little waterfall! Visiting the interior is interesting and offers a chance to learn about the building’s history

  • This combo gives you access to two of Sintra's most iconic palaces: The National Palace of Sintra and the Quinta de Regaleira. Their proximity makes this the ideal booking for a tour of Sintra's best treasures.

    National Palace of Sintra

The National Palace of Sintra served as a residence for almost every Portuguese king and queen till the end of the monarchy in 1910. The first thing you’ll notice from a distance is its two conical chimneys and rooms, culminating centuries of Moorish and Portuguese history. The tour will take you through some of its most iconic rooms, including the Swan Hall, the Magpie Room, the Palatine Chapel, and the Heraldic Hall with its octagonal dome. Each space features intricate details from a variety of different influences.

    Quinta de Regaleira

The Quinta de Regaleira was built in the 20th century by António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro, a wealthy Brazilian businessman. Walking through each floor, you’ll come across a mix of Gothic, Rainnaisance, and Manueline styles. A stroll through the gardens will lead you to an underground network of tunnels and an initiation well. Every corner is dotted with symbolism, and the tunnels also lead to a secret entrance that leads to the Initiation Well.
