We purchased tickets the day of to avoid long lines. Our online tickets were ready in approximately 45 minutes. It was perfect timing as we had time for a bite to eat. We bypassed the long line to purchase tickets at the gates and entered immediately to the castle.

The cloisters were a real delight, the ancient walls, a breathtaking sight. The little peacocks, sweet as pie, the big ones loud beneath the sky. The views knocked every breath away, from castle towers and Camera's display. All in all, it made our day!

Beautiful place to visit; the views were stunning and the castle remains are impressive. There is lots to see with peacocks also roaming freely around the castle grounds. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Loved the castle sad that there was not more information about it would have loved to buy a book about the history of Catele de Sao Jorge. I enjoyed the peacocks and all the olive trees.

We enjoyes the ability to walk the entire perimeter of the fortifications. Also, the museum, although small, was very well supplied with descriptions of the irems in the display cases.

The inside of the castle is empty; I was expecting a castle that still had its original decor and at least one furnished room, but it doesn't. The views are spectacular. You can climb the stairs and walk all the way around the castle. Next to it, you can visit the ruins of some of the houses in the village surrounding the castle.
    • Step into the breathtaking 2,000+ year-old São Jorge Castle that towers over Lisbon’s skyline, offering views of the entire city below it.

    • Climb up a 50-step spiral staircase in the castle’s church that leads to the most spectacular views of Lisbon’s city center and the River Tagus.

    • Inside the old church lies an exhibition that houses rare artifacts and stories, bringing centuries of castle life to light.

    • Unwind with a complimentary drink—wine, cava, beer, or a soft drink—while taking in the panoramic views and reliving your favorite moments from the visit.
