We purchased tickets the day of to avoid long lines. Our online tickets were ready in approximately 45 minutes. It was perfect timing as we had time for a bite to eat. We bypassed the long line to purchase tickets at the gates and entered immediately to the castle.

The cloisters were a real delight, the ancient walls, a breathtaking sight. The little peacocks, sweet as pie, the big ones loud beneath the sky. The views knocked every breath away, from castle towers and Camera's display. All in all, it made our day!

We were able to purchase last minutes tickets, despite the official website showing nothing available for days. The relatively small fee was worth it to see the ethereal monastery, cathedral, and Vasco da Gama's resting place.

The monastery is magnificent. It’s really nice to stroll through the castle, climb the ramparts, and admire the river from the overlooks—especially from the restaurant where we had our meal.

Beautiful place to visit; the views were stunning and the castle remains are impressive. There is lots to see with peacocks also roaming freely around the castle grounds. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Everything was very well maintained. We arrived at the scheduled time, and the line was orderly. The tour is guided by a series of signs, which helps keep the flow of people moving and prevents people from wandering all over the place.

I arrived early to stand in line so that I could enter by my scheduled time and when I arrived I found out they were still letting people in from up to two hours before my timed entry because they were running behind! I ended up standing in the blazing hot sun for over an hour and a half, so by the time I got in I had zero energy to enjoy. I did end up entering right at my scheduled time, but I had no idea how the system worked and read online reviews that said to get there early but to me there's no point in arriving too early because you will still have to stand in the line for your specific time slot regardless of when you arrive and the line is outside with no shelter! This didn't make the attraction seem worth it, even though it's beautiful.

The place looked really nice. However, the employee at the line was unfriendly, and I stood in the right line for hours, only to be sent to the supposedly correct line when it was my turn. When I pointed out to him that the signs weren’t set up correctly, he ignored it at first and only changed them after several people complained.

The inside of the castle is empty; I was expecting a castle that still had its original decor and at least one furnished room, but it doesn't. The views are spectacular. You can climb the stairs and walk all the way around the castle. Next to it, you can visit the ruins of some of the houses in the village surrounding the castle.
