Entry to the monastery was hassle-free; you can enter within an hour of your scheduled time. It’s not a skip-the-line ticket, but the wait was minimal—about 15 minutes—despite the large crowds (visit took place in August). Admission to the church is free, but you have to wait in another line once you exit the monastery (this one was quick as well).
    • Enjoy access to 2 attractions with a value-for-money ticket that comes with the added benefit of extended validity.

    • Discover Lisbon's history and culture at the monastery in the form of intriguing stories and visual attractions.

    • See maritime influences at the monument built as a tribute to Vasco da Gama’s successful journey to India, as well as sea explorers.

    • Delve into unique perspectives on space at the gallery, observatory, and library at the Navy Planetarium.

    • Get access to fascinating exhibitions at one of the largest planetariums in the world.

    • Fun fact: Jerónimos Monastery replaced a church that formerly existed in the same location, dedicated to Santa Maria de Belem.

There were two lines at the site—one for the cathedral and one for the monastery—but unfortunately there were no signs. I stood in the wrong line for a long time, but luckily I went to ask for directions, and that’s when I was told I needed to switch to the other line—which meant we ended up waiting a lot longer. That’s the only issue that needs to be fixed. Admission to the cathedral is free, while there’s an admission fee for the monastery, but there were no signs indicating which line was for which.

Everything was perfect for our visit on July 25: we entered the Belém Tower at 10 a.m. with no line, and the same went for the Monastery at 1 p.m. We were able to explore at our own pace and take photos without too many people crowding the scenic spots! Truly excellent!

A beautiful place to explore. To our surprise, there was no line. (We entered at 2:30 p.m.) We had plenty of time to tour the site (the monastery and church) at our own pace.

I loved the Jerónimos Monastery. It's an incredibly beautiful place. It's definitely worth a visit. Be sure to check it out if you're in Lisbon.

The monastery is really beautiful! It makes for some great photos! It’s definitely worth the trip! But São Jorge Castle is undoubtedly the highlight! It’s the perfect spot for a panoramic view of the city. Not to mention that you’ll feel like you’ve been transported into those scenes from medieval movies. Good facilities. It’s a very cool and pleasant place, especially considering how hot it was on the day I visited. Be prepared for the hike, since the castle is located on a hill.
