We were really eager to learn about the history of the Initiation Well at Quinta da Regaleira, so we traveled from Sesimbra to see it. Choosing a guided tour in Spanish for this was a great decision. Francisco is a wonderful guide; he’s very knowledgeable and took us on a tour of every corner of that marvelous estate while telling us its history. The time flew by. Highly recommended.

Francisco shared interesting facts about the history of the palace and fun stories about the mystery of the masons. Tour was well paced as it is hilly and he allowed time for everyone to do photos, take a breather and hear more history. Encouraged us to enjoy the gardens on our own which were quite lovely. I also appreciated the text for the meeting point for confirmation day of the tour.

The tour of Quinta da Regaleira was very interesting, informative, enjoyable, and fun. Our guide spoke three languages at the same time and was able to cater well to each of our needs. For me, the most interesting spot was the “Imperfect Well,” located at the end of the “Path of the Wind.” This was the place that moved me the most.

At first, the tickets the guide had for our group unfortunately listed the wrong time, so our group was not allowed entry. We couldn’t figure out who was responsible for the booking error. However, our guide went out of his way to help and offered to take us on the tour at a later time. The tour itself was very informative and fun! He addressed all our questions individually—it wasn’t a cookie-cutter tour.
