Did you know?

In contrast to many Art Deco skyscrapers of the 1930s, the 30 Rockefeller Plaza was uniquely built as a slab with a flat roof. Since 1933, it has served as the location of the Rockefeller Center's observation deck, known as the Top of the Rock.

The Observation deck was originally designed to emulate the upper decks of a 1930s grand ocean liner. It was supposed to be furnished with deck chairs, gooseneck fixtures and large air-conditioning vents that would make it look like a ship’s deck.

Top of the Rock offers you a captivating audio-visual experience crafted by Andrew Giugno and Ray Kunimoto on the mezzanine level. Encounter a fully immersive soundscape as you walk toward the elevators, offering a glimpse into the future of Rockefeller Center and New York City.

Why visit Top of the Rock?

Three-tiered observation deck

What sets Top of the Rock apart from New York’s other observation decks is its offering of multiple levels of decks, each offering different angles and perspectives of the bustling metropolis.

An iconic attraction in a historic building

The Rockefeller Center in itself is a must-visit attraction in New York. Top of the Rock gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich history of the building while taking in the architectural marvels and landmarks that define the city.

Outdoor terraces for unobstructed views

Top of the Rock includes outdoor terraces that allow you to truly experience the city, engaging all your senses. See the New York skyline while feeling the cool breeze swirl around you and listen to the daily bustle of one of the busiest cities in the world.

A wonderland for architecture enthusiasts

Admire the intricate Art Deco design and captivating installations characterized by sleek lines, geometric patterns, and decorative motifs, reflecting the style popularized in the 1920s and 1930s.

Day and night experiences

If seeing New York city’s aesthetic skyline during the day isn’t enough of a memorable experience, Top of the Rock offers you a tete-a-tete with the city after-hours too! The observation deck is open until midnight, allowing you to marvel at the city glitter in all its glory.

A well-secured observation deck with a breathtaking view of Manhattan. We can take as many photos as we want. The only downside is a low-frequency hum (music or ventilation) that gives you a headache after a while.

The Edge viewing area offered a different vantage point than Empire AND One World. It is very well staffed, there is no breakfast option up there, which would have been nice. Grest views on NJ, Mid Town, etc. MOMA is MOMA, one great exhibit after another....again, well/professionally staffed.
