A very enjoyable and interesting tour with Adriano B. A top-notch guided tour. We really appreciated the itinerary he chose and how clearly he spoke French. The Villa dei Misteri is a real bonus—it’s truly beautiful. But the basic tour of the site is already very comprehensive. It’s best to do this in the morning so you can see everything else in the afternoon.

We booked a 3 hour guided tour. After booking I thought it was maybe a bit much to listen for 3 hours but it was worth it!! The guide was great! She walked and talked us through the parts of the city with humor and she was very pleasant to listen to. She knew a lot and is a great teacher. (Later we found out we should give the gide a tip. We didn't realise at the time and are sorry because she is worth it).

The guide was extremely knowledgeable, but unfortunately the tour started 20 minutes late and had 24 people instead of the maximum of 20 indicated in the reservation. In any case, it was a positive experience—one worth repeating!

But the true highlight of this tour is none other than the Villa of the Mysteries, where you can see the mysterious paintings on the walls depicting ancient ceremonies.

A valid ID or passport is required for entry.

It’s recommended to wear comfortable shoes as this experience involves a fair amount of walking.

It is recommended to bring sunglasses, sunscreen and water. Flip-flops are not suitable.

Only small dogs on a leash can be brought inside the park. Guide dogs with a certificate are permitted.

What’s not allowed

Flash photography and tripods are allowed in this experience.

This tour is not recommended for travelers with mobility issues or impairments, because of challenging terrain.

The fee for the excavation sites of Pompeii is free for all first Sundays of the month.
