Our visit to the National Archaeological Museum of Naples was particularly interesting and informative. We had the opportunity to learn more about Naples’ rich history, art, and culture, and to admire numerous artifacts of great value. We especially appreciated that the visit allowed us to learn something new in an enjoyable and engaging way, giving us a better understanding of the historical and cultural significance of this city. It was a truly captivating and enriching experience that made our stay in Naples even more special.
The MANN has so many interesting items in their collections especially those related to Pompeii and Herculaneum. The objects were very easy to view with placards in both Italian and English explaining the history behind the item. The size of some of the statuary was immense and makes you wonder how they were sculpted. Imagine the delight of the archeologists discovering piece after piece of ancient history.
Both tours are interesting, and there is parking available at the main starting and finishing points near the castle. The commentary is helpful but can sometimes be hard to understand.
Beautiful art museum! The peace and tranquility of the grounds were the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Naples. A wonderful place to slow down, wander, and admire the incredible masterpieces
The hop-on, hop-off bus tour is the perfect way to get a feel for Naples without having to drive yourself or walk. You just get driven around. Sometimes that’s nice, too.
The buses arrive on time at all stops, and the staff are very friendly. During the ride, you can plug your own headphones into the audio guide using a jack plug. Otherwise, headphones are provided on board.
You should download the recommended Sightseeing Experience app in advance, which provides information on the route map, stops, departure times, and your current location. That way, you’ll always know where you are. The signage at the stops is actually rather sparse.
The red route takes you through the city center in 40 minutes. The blue route takes you along the coast for 70 minutes and offers a fantastic view of the Bay of Naples. Be sure to take both routes!
