Pro tips to help you make a pick

Your entry ticket to the Arc de Triomphe includes rooftop access as well, from where you can catch panoramic views of other Parisian monuments including the Eiffel Tower.

Be warned! The wait time at the entrance can be anywhere between 30-45 minutes. Upgrade your entry ticket to one with fast-track entry that'll help you skip the long queues and access the monument at the earliest.

With your ticket, you'll get an information booklet in 10 languages. For a more detailed visit, focussed on the monument's history, you can choose an audio guide in 5 languages. Audio guides need separate tickets.

While the Triumphal Arch is accessible by wheelchair and the museum by an elevator, the rooftop remains inaccessible to those in a wheelchair. It is a 284-step climb.

Visiting the monument is free for all on the first Sunday of each month, from November 1 to March 31st. A fair warning, it'll get super crowded.

Did you know?

The construction of Arc de Triomphe took over 30 years and various architects due to political changes and funding issues.

The Arc de Triomphe is the second-largest triumphal arch in the world and was the largest until 1982 before The Arch of Triumph in Pyongyang, North Korea was built.

Although commissioned by Emperor Napoleon, he never had the chance to see the Arch completed as the project continued for 15 years after his death. However, his body was later moved to the arch in 1850.

In 1919, Charles Godefroy, a French Aviator, flew a Nieuport fighter plane through the arch to salute all the airmen killed in the war.

Each of the four pillars showcase individual sculptural works by three different designers, namely, François Rude, Jean-Pierre Cortot, and Antoine Étex.

The view of Paris is breathtaking, magnificent, and impressive!! I’ve visited many tourist spots in Paris over several trips, but I’ve never had time to see everything—and even if I’d planned to, I’d always end up just seeing the Arc de Triomphe from the outside.
