My experience at this show was definitely unique. In the first few minutes, I was worried that it would be a disaster, but very rapidly I became immersed in the experience; and by the end I was determined to come back to see it again. It was funny, sad, illuminating about creativity, and the musical performances were excellent. It has now been 8 hours since the end of the show, and I have not yet been able to stop thinking about it.

Cozy theatre, which made the play more intimate (that fit very well with the subject of the play). The actors were really good, the music as well (I am a fan of the guy who made it, he played in Arcade Fire, which I like). Very polite staff.

Good performances, great music based around a convincing story but although it was long for a purpose - for us to share their time passing slowly - it was too long and cutting 20 mins or so would have been a good thing
  • Stereophonic is a nuanced portrayal of creative genius - and the perils that come with it. Set in the 1970s, this acclaimed play from playwright David Adjmi pairs beautifully with an original score from Will Butler, a former member of the Grammy-winning Indie Rock band Arcade Fire, to showcase what musical authenticity looks like in the face of struggles and stardom.

    The story

It's the 70s. Rock and roll is having its moment, and new bands are a dime a dozen. One band, determined to stand out, sits at the cusp of their big moment: a breakout album sure to skyrocket them to fame. As pressure mounts during the band's studio recording sessions, a gripping tale unfolds. Will this be their breakthrough, or will it be what causes them to fall apart?

A great play. It's understandable that it won so many awards on Broadway. This intimate theatre was perfect for the production.

GREAT acting, entirely credible technical procedures, great musicianship, great exposition of the relationships between all characters. Too long; not enough songs; not enough songs played in their entirety.
