I booked this show mainly to make my daughter happy—she’d been wanting to see it so badly—and in the end, we were all happy. It was exciting, captivating, and truly enchanting. The actors and singers were amazing, and the sets were incredible—so rich, lively, and surprising. After two and a half hours immersed in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s wonderful music, we left with tears in our eyes—and then London was waiting for us outside. What more could you ask for? (Of course, taking photos during the show is strictly prohibited, so I’ll post a photo from before and after the show.)
    • First performed in 1986, Phantom of the Opera in London is the longest-running show in Broadway history and the second-longest-running musical in the West End.

    The story

Beneath the grand Paris Opera House lurks a shadowy figure, the Phantom, haunting its halls and secretly mentoring the young soprano Christine Daaé. As Christine’s voice soars, so does the Phantom’s obsession, drawing her into a mesmerising yet dangerous world. Torn between her masked maestro and her devoted childhood love, Raoul, Christine’s fate unravels amidst a backdrop of chandeliers, opera, and breathtaking theatrical illusions. Will this mysterious “ghost” seduce Christine, or will she choose to be with Raoul?

We’d booked our seats at the last minute (less than a week in advance) with limited visibility on the Royal Balcony. And to our surprise… they were in a very, very, very good spot! There was indeed a small pillar in front of us, but it didn’t obstruct our view at all! The show is SPECTACULAR—from the costumes and sets to the talent of the performers!! INCREDIBLE!

The performance was stunning. The story was told very well, even though it was in English and we’re French. We understood everything, and the emotion conveyed by the actors was contagious. There’s a really, really great atmosphere in this theater. The intermission between the two acts was well-managed, and there was a standing ovation at the end.

This is the best way to get into immersive plays. Loved it. We sat in the grand circle row. Not the best seats but there wasn't any seats left so we took what was available. Balcony seats are the best. Next time will look for them.
