Getting started

Your Shark Dive Xtreme experience lasts approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Check in at SEA LIFE Melbourne at your scheduled time. No prior diving experience or certification is needed. After signing your medical form, you’ll gear up and begin your scuba training with certified instructors before heading into the Oceanarium.

What to expect

Scuba training made easy: Kick off with a 90-minute introduction to scuba diving, covering essential skills, safety protocols, and comfort checks with your instructor.

Dive with ocean giants: Once trained, take a 30-minute guided dive inside a 2.2-million-litre Oceanarium, swimming alongside nurse sharks, leopard sharks, wobbegongs, stingrays, sea turtles, and hundreds of reef fish. All equipment, wetsuits, and guidance included.

All-day aquarium access: After your dive, explore the rest of SEA LIFE Melbourne at your own pace. Visit 12 themed zones, from penguins and jellyfish to crocodiles and coral reefs.

Small group, big adventure: Dives are limited to four participants per session, ensuring personal attention and plenty of space to take in the marine magic.

No license? No problem: This experience is perfect for first-time divers. Just bring swimwear, a towel, and your sense of adventure.

What to bring

Bring your booking confirmation and a valid photo ID for check-in.

Pack a swimming costume/swimmers to wear under your wetsuit for the dive.

Enclosed footwear is required for safety and comfort during your visit.

A towel and toiletries are recommended if you plan to use the showers after your dive.

What’s not allowed

Prescription glasses can’t be worn during the dive; bring contact lenses if needed.

Personal cameras, GoPros, or recording devices are not permitted inside the tank.

Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited the night before your dive.

Guests who are unable to swim 200 meters or walk 1.6 kilometers without resting cannot participate in the experience.

Flying within 12 hours after your dive is not permitted due to safety regulations.

Smoking is not allowed inside SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium.

Accessibility

Diving is not suitable for pregnant guests or those planning to become pregnant.

All divers must complete a medical declaration; some conditions require certified dive doctor clearance.

The aquarium is wheelchair accessible, but the Shark Dive Xtreme experience may not be suitable for all mobility levels.

Guide dogs are allowed inside SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium.

Additional information

The experience is open to guests aged 14 years and above; guests under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Lockers and showers are available for your convenience before and after the dive.

Each dive session is limited to 4 participants for a personal and safe experience.

All-day admission to SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium is included with your dive ticket.

Spectators can watch from the viewing tunnel and receive 25% off admission (up to 4 per diver).

All divers must read and complete our medical declaration questionnaire before booking their Shark Dive.

Guests must have a reasonable level of swimming ability to participate.
