Great for

True Crime aficionados | Fans of dramas centered on justice | Lovers of thought-provoking contemporary theater

  • Punch is a new play from James Graham, the powerhouse behind Tammy Faye, Ink, and Quiz—a writer known for transforming real-world events into electrifying drama. An Olivier Award-winner and Tony nominee, Graham teams up with Adam Penford to deliver a perfect storm of top-tier writing, direction, and performance that offers a raw, honest, and unflinching examination of the consequences of violence and the potential for restorative justice. With standout performances by David Shields and Julie Hesmondhalgh, Punch is a timely, tightly crafted drama full of moral complexity and thrilling reversals that challenge perceptions of justice and redemption.

    The story

In the heart of Nottingham, teenager Jacob Dunne's life spirals after a split-second decision results in an unforeseen tragedy: the death of James Hodgkinson. As Jacob grapples with guilt and seeks meaning after his release, he enters into a restorative justice process with James's parents. Through candid conversations and emotional confrontations, the story delves into the complexities of grief, the challenges of seeking forgiveness, and the transformative power of human connection.
