I had never used Headout before and was a bit nervous if the ticket was legitimate. It was absolutely legit, and I had a smooth (no wait) entry and wonderful exhibit.

What a treat it was to visit this amazing exhibition. The progression through the gallery starting at infancy and on was intriguing. Only admiring the queen from afar and her impeccable style it was fascinating to see the craftsmanship close up. The artistry in every detail was fabulous. Pictures don't portray the intricacies of the embroidery or beading that adorns so many pieces. Her intentional detail to each piece and the occasion that it was for made it that much more special. A must see for admirers and fashion lovers.

I loved it! My daughter and I attended the exhibition while visiting London on (Canadian) Mother's Day and... WOW! What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Each room we entered had a theme for the Queen's attire... daytime dress, evening dress, touring outfits, countryside attire, diamond tiaras... and so much more. Every room was so interesting. We were struck by how much detail and thought went into the design and creation of each piece. Her coronation dress was stunning. What a treat to get so close to them all.

This was an extremely beautiful and, I felt, very loving memorial to the Queen. I may be an American, but I adored the Queen. Her whole amazing life was reflected here, and her humor and class was so evident in the thoughtful way that she used her clothes to convey subtle meaning everywhere she went. The displays were gorgeous, I loved the layout. Honestly I was so moved! I realized I walked thru the whole exhibit with my hand over my heart! God rest her majesty! And if you're in London don't miss this treat!

It is a vibrant celebration of a monarch who used style to navigate the global stage, blending tradition with a uniquely British flair.

    Getting started

Begin your journey at The King's Gallery, located within the historic grounds of Buckingham Palace. This world-class space provides an intimate setting to view the Royal Collection. Upon arrival, you can immerse yourself in a curated chronological journey through ten decades of history, from the Queen's birth in 1926 to her final years as Britain's longest-reigning monarch.

    What to expect

    The King’s Gallery

Expect a breathtaking display of over 200 items, many of which are being shown to the public for the very first time. You will see how the Queen’s style evolved from the crinoline-skirted gowns of the 1950s to the bold, diplomatic "rainbow" wardrobes of her later years. The exhibition successfully bridges the gap between the public icon and the private woman, revealing her meticulous attention to detail and her close collaboration with legendary designers.

    Features:

    • Iconic royal gowns: Marvel at the sheer artistry of Norman Hartnell’s most famous creations. The exhibition features the Queen's 1947 wedding dress and the 1953 Coronation dress, both masterpieces of embroidery and symbolism that defined the start of the New Elizabethan Age.

    • Behind-the-scenes craftsmanship: Explore the creative process behind the wardrobe through never-before-seen artefacts. View original design sketches, intricate fabric samples, and personal handwritten notes that show how the Queen worked with couturiers to ensure every outfit was fit for the global stage.

    • A century of history: Trace the Queen's life through clothing that marked major milestones. Highlights include the royal christening robe, the bridesmaid dress she wore in 1934, and the sophisticated bolero jacket and gown worn for her sister Princess Margaret's wedding in 1960.

    • Multimedia insights: Enhance your visit with a complimentary multimedia guide. Listen to expert commentary from curators and fashion historians who provide deep context on royal fashion—from the first sketch to the finished ensemble worn during momentous occasions in British history.
