Did you know?

The St. John Lateran Basilica is older than St. Peter’s Basilica and holds the title of 'mother church' for all Roman Catholic churches worldwide.

The Holy Stairs (Scala Santa) are believed to be the very steps Jesus climbed during His Passion, brought to Rome from Jerusalem in the 4th century.

The Lateran Baptistery, built by Constantine, is the oldest monumental baptistery in Christianity and still features its original octagonal design.

The basilica’s main altar is said to contain a relic from the table of the Last Supper, making it a site of deep spiritual significance.

An enormous Egyptian obelisk from Karnak, the tallest in Rome, stands in the basilica’s forecourt, symbolizing the church’s ancient roots.

Choosing Headout made the entry process to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel very easy, in what could be a bewildering and stressful situation. The meeting point is really close to the entrance but away from the queues and crowds. Getting the entry to the Pantheon as part of the same ticket combo is a great idea too.

The bus tour was wonderful. It was a chance to relax away from the crowds and catch some great views of the cathedral. It was totally worth it! The organization and execution went off without a hitch!

I visited the Vatican Gardens in Rome on an organized bus tour. It was a very pleasant experience: the place is wonderful, well-maintained, and surrounded by tranquility, far from the chaos of the city. The tour was interesting and well-organized, with clear and engaging explanations that made the visit even more enjoyable. The bus trip was comfortable and well-managed, allowing us to reach our destination stress-free. My only minor criticism: it would have been even better if the visit had lasted a little longer, so we could have spent more time exploring this truly charming place. Overall, it’s an experience I recommend to anyone who wants to discover a more secluded and fascinating side of Rome.

It was extremely difficult to get the ticket because there were apparently incorrect announcements about where to pick it up. A 40-minute walk, a missed time slot at the Colosseum—really a bummer. Why can’t you get the ticket online? Then I had to make several in-person visits to two offices; the staff were super friendly and super helpful. I would never book this ticket again—it’s too unclear what’s included, too expensive, and too old-fashioned.
