cheaper than phisical offices in front of attractions. easy to buy, great support and all tickets ever bought with headout worked very well and smooth

Non ho messo 5 stelle perché, nella mail di conferma dell'acquisto dei biglietti, era scritto che i biglietti sarebbero stati inviati per email 24 ore prima dell'esperienza. Invece non sono arrivati e ho dovuto contattare l'assistenza e insistere per farmeli inviare subito perché ormai avevo urgenza. Per il resto i luoghi sono molto interessanti e a me sono piaciuti molto, quindi da quel punto di vista l'esperienza è stata indimenticabile. Anche i biglietti salta-fila nella moschea di Santa Sofia e nella Cisterna hanno funzionato benissimo, mentre nella Moschea Blu i biglietti non servivano.

Un viaggio nel sottosuolo di Istanbul Ottima esperienza! La Cisterna Basilica ti lascia senza fiato: colonne romane, luce soffusa, musica d’acqua e la testa di Medusa capovolta. Hanno fatto un restauro bellissimo con luci e installazioni artistiche. In 30 min capisci perché la chiamano “Palazzo Sommerso”. Fresca d’estate, perfetta dopo Santa Sofia che è a 2 min a piedi. Vale ogni lira del biglietto. Consiglio di prenotare online con biglietto salta fila.

1. Easy to book 2. Headout uses intermediary 3rd party and there is no refund. 3. No tickets arrived. Just a note via email to say I would need to meet a man holding a white flag outside the venue. 4. Thankfully Headout was contactable by WhatApp and they responded to my message 5. The man was present on the day and provided my tickets 6. Entry was smooth 7. The visit was amazing

Hat unkompliziert geklappt und der Aufioguide auch. Direkt vor Ort Tickets kaufen geht auch, da muss man halt etwas anstehen. Und man darf nicht vergessen den Audioguide vorher zu Downloaden. Da hätte mir ein Hinweis geholfen

Loved seeing this underground ancient "water tank". The guided part of the tour was basically just one-half hour and seemed a little rushed. The audio self-guided tour might be better choice.

Getting started

Arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your scheduled time and keep your mobile ticket and a valid photo ID ready. A staff member will meet you at the entrance and help you check in. You’ll breeze past the ticket queue, but do note that all visitors must go through a security check.

Basilica Cistern

The Basilica Cistern is one of Istanbul’s most atmospheric spots—a vast, ancient underground reservoir built in the 6th century. It’s best known for its forest of marble columns, the serene reflections in the water, and, of course, the mysterious Medusa heads hidden at the far end.

Depending on the ticket you choose, an expert guide will accompany you through the cistern. You’ll get the backstory behind the Medusa heads, learn how this shadowy space once supplied water to emperors, and hear quirky details you’d probably miss on your own.

What to bring

Wear comfortable shoes with a good grip—the stone floor can be damp and slightly slippery.

Bring a light jacket or shawl; it stays cool underground even in warm weather.

Carry wired headphones if you plan to use an audio guide app—Bluetooth often struggles underground.

Have your phone fully charged for photos and the audio guide (there are no charging stations inside).

What's not allowed

Flash photography is not permitted.

Tripods and selfie sticks are not allowed due to space and safety concerns.

Eating, drinking, and smoking are strictly prohibited inside the cistern.

Accessibility

The site is partially accessible; there is a lift near the exit on Alemdar Street near the tram line, but the walking path inside may be uneven in places.

Wheelchair users may need assistance, especially around corners or where the lighting is low.

There are no elevators inside the cistern, and seating is extremely limited.

Your ticket allows you to skip the ticket queue, but all visitors must go through a security check.

Arrive early in the morning or visit in the evening to avoid crowds from cruise ship tours.

Don’t miss the Medusa heads tucked into the far corner. Walk around them to see both angles.

The exit leads out to a different street than the entrance; take note of your location before entering.

The lighting is intentionally dim—give your eyes a moment to adjust for better visibility and photos
