Euromast was built in 1960 for the Floriade horticultural expo and originally stood at 101 meters before the Euroscoop extension raised it to 185 meters.

The 240,000 pound crow’s nest restaurant was raised 100 metres in just five days using industrial jacks, a feat comparable to lifting a blue whale every hour.

Over 6 million visitors experienced Euromast in its first decade, making it one of Rotterdam’s most popular attractions.

In the 1990s, plans for a 392m Parkhaven Tower proposed demolishing the Euromast entirely, but the city council rejected the idea, preserving the monument, which has been protected since 2010.

The abseiling experience from Euromast is the highest in Europe, letting thrill-seekers rappel 100 meters down the tower’s exterior under expert supervision.
