It was a wonderful trip. We arrived in Carcassonne and stayed at a hotel called Le Florentine, which is very close to the entrance to the walled city—you can even see the castle from there. Inside the city, the streets are charming, and there are plenty of places to eat and buy souvenirs. I 100% recommend buying tickets to the castle, since it’s the heart of the city and it’s totally worth learning about its history and seeing what it’s like inside.

Carcassonne is a city with an interesting history. It's history is displayed in the fortress architecture of the castle and ramparts. The ticket allowed for a pleasant stroll along the medieval stone walls. Everything about it was a true learning experience.

The place makes an impression the moment you see it from a distance. Parking is easy and not too expensive. The grounds are very well maintained, clean, and full of shops where you can buy things and eat. The tour was very well organized, with signs and directions everywhere. I was delighted.

Visiting the Carcassonne Castle made a deep impression on me. Since many people are waiting to be let in at 10:00 a.m. and many don't have a ticket yet, I highly recommend buying an online ticket in advance.

We arrived for the opening. We started at the ramparts and then attended a 45-minute presentation on the castle's history led by Juliette. It was really great. It really enriched our experience.

Carcassonne Castle offers free admission on select days, including the European Heritage Days on 20 & 21 September 2025, and on the first Sunday of January, February, March, November, and December.

To avoid large crowds at the entrance, it is recommended to arrive 1 hour after the monument opens.
