Our full-day tour to Meteora was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Greece. From start to finish, everything was exceptionally well organized and thoughtfully planned, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. The journey itself was comfortable, and the scenery along the way was beautiful. But nothing compares to arriving at Meteora — the views are absolutely breathtaking. Seeing the monasteries perched on top of those massive rock formations is something you really have to experience in person. A special thank you to our guide, who made the day even more memorable. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about sharing the history and stories behind Meteora. The audio explanations added so much depth to what we were seeing. The lunch was also a pleasant surprise — delicious, satisfying, and well-timed, giving us a nice break to relax and enjoy local flavors. Overall, everything about this tour was excellent: the organization, the guide, the food, and of course the incredible destination itself. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Greece. It’s absolutely worth it!

Maria ( blonde hair and blue eyes,) was an exceptional tour guide — truly one of the highlights of our experience. With her warm personality and beautiful energy she immediately made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. She was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating details with clarity and passion, while also keeping the tour engaging and enjoyable from start to finish. What made Maria stand out most was her friendliness and genuine care for everyone in the group. She answered questions with patience, connected easily with people, and created such a pleasant atmosphere throughout the tour. Professional, charming, and wonderfully informed, Maria is exactly the kind of guide who turns a simple tour into a memorable experience. Highly recommended!

My partner and I are absolutely captivated by the tour to Meteora. We weren’t very familiar with the beauty of the landscapes, so the surprise was more than pleasant. But encountering the sheer grandeur of Meteora’s landscape, combined with the incredible architecture of the monasteries, simply left us speechless. Of course, we have to add that a large part of the success was thanks to Rola, the guide. It’s the excellent combination of knowledge and the ability to convey it. And Rola has it all. She’s also very funny and friendly. The tour was exceptionally well organized. The schedule was followed exactly. The driver was EXCELLENT.

A magnificent and exceptional landscape; the monasteries are striking for their beauty, architecture, and rich iconography. The tour is well-paced, despite its 14-hour duration and long distance of nearly 600 km. An audio guide in French is provided in addition to the English-speaking guide.

Katarina was an amazing guide. Yanuz was an excellent driver. The monasteries were incredible and definitely worth the climb. A long drive but comfortable. The information about the monasteries and the Greek Orthodox Church was very interesting.

  • What to bring

    • Bring some cash for entrance donations (€3 to €5 per monastery) and any purchases, as credit card facilities may not be available.
    • Opt for sturdy shoes with good grip, as paths can be uneven and include many steps.
    • Carry water and light snacks, especially during warmer months (June to August).
    • Don’t forget to bring your own earphones and a fully charged phone to listen to the audio guides comfortably.

    What's not allowed

    • While outdoor photography is generally permitted, refrain from taking photos inside churches and of monks or nuns.
    • Flying drones is prohibited without special permission.

    Accessibility

    • Meteora is not wheelchair accessible. All monasteries involve steps or inclined paths.
    • If you have mobility constraints, consider visiting monasteries like St. Stephen’s, which has a paved path and minimal stairs.

    Additional information

    • Your tour bus will be across from Larissa train station on Theodore Diligianni Street, in front of Everest Café. Look for the 'Visit Meteora' sign.
    • Expect to visit 2 to 4 monasteries. Each has a weekly closing day (Great Meteoron on Tuesdays, Varlaam on Fridays), so the lineup may vary.
    • All monasteries require a €3 to €5 offering per person, payable in cash at the gate.
    • Tour guides are not allowed inside the monasteries. To continue exploring while inside, take advantage of the multilingual audio guides.
    • Tours use minibuses or local shuttles to transport visitors between sites.
    • Basic toilets are available at larger monasteries (Great Meteoron, Varlaam, St. Stephen) and may require a small tip.
    • The Meteora monasteries follow a strict dress code. Men must wear long pants; women need long skirts and shoulder coverage. Sleeveless tops and shorts are not allowed.
    • Your voucher will be emailed to you instantly.

    • Display the voucher on your mobile phone with a valid photo ID at the meeting point.

    • Please arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes before the scheduled time of your tour to avoid any delays.

    Meeting point

    • Please check your final voucher for the meeting point details and specific instructions.
