After having trouble the first time booking, I had to book again but the day was enjoyable lots of walking involved but was nice and cool in the heatwave, main concern not much of break time to allow drink and toilet, and also don't drink too much as toilet is quite a way, Otherwise worth a visit

Oscar, our driver, was great. Attentive, helpful, and open to any questions. The German tour guide was excellent. The only thing was: of course, the mine was absolutely packed. So every now and then, the individual groups would get backed up. But it wasn’t a big deal. It was a shame, though, that we often had to rush through the mine. There’s plenty of seating available at every station. At the end of the tour, there’s another souvenir shop. The final walk to the elevator was definitely at least another 1.5 km. We were accompanied by a staff member who was very sweet and quick. The trip was definitely worth it, and Oscar once again drove us back to Krakow safely and smoothly.

Overall, it was a great experience. The transfer, including pickup at the hotel, was very convenient and punctual; the driver was helpful, and on the way back, he asked if we’d prefer to be dropped off downtown. The mine was very beautiful—even more so than we expected—and the Italian-speaking guide was very knowledgeable. Perhaps the only downside was the pace of the tour inside the mine; we would have liked to spend a few more moments enjoying the sights inside.

A very interesting tour, even if the price is a bit steep. Not recommended for people with limited mobility or young children because of the 800 steps to descend and the kilometers to walk: it’s a real little hike! However, there was a severe lack of information at the exit, which isn’t in the same place as the entrance (about 500 meters away): it was hard to find our bus under those conditions! In fact, we lost track of two participants....

Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978, the Wieliczka Salt Mine has operated continuously since the 13th century and is one of Poland’s most treasured cultural monuments. Descend 800 stairs to explore a vast underground world, reaching a depth of 135 meters.

What to bring

Comfortable shoes are recommended.

Bring warm clothing as the temperature underground ranges between 14° and 16° C.

What’s not allowed

Luggage or large bags are not allowed inside the mine.

Luggage larger than 30 x 20 x 10 centimeters is not permitted (can be left on the bus if applicable).

Accessibility

Not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility impairments.

There are approximately 800 steps to climb, with 350 at the beginning to descend into the mine.

Additional information

The tour is not recommended for anyone with claustrophobia.

Maximum group size is 40 visitors per guide.

The pace and duration of guided tours are determined by visitor service regulations; duration is approximate.

Toilet facilities are spaced along the route at approximately 40 and 90 minutes from the start of the visit.

If your child is less than 150 cm tall, please inform the local partner so a child seat can be arranged.
