Budapest for history geeks

A special place I would love to return to anytime with my family. A spectacular building, magnificent architecture, and very well maintained. The people are very friendly and welcoming. A place that left a pleasant impression on us.

Surprisingly enjoyable visit. I only wanted to see the Castle up close and thought the museum would only be an after thought, but lo and behold the interior of the castle is magnificent. I found hallways and staircases that looked straight out of a fairy tale book. I feel like gate keeping the place but it is too awesome not too❤️❤️❤️🏰🇭🇺

St Stephen's is the most lavish cathedral I have ever visited - talk about awe and wonder! My photos do not do it justice. It is well worth paying the extra for the panoramic view. Lots of steps up (over 300!) but there is also an elevator. The Headout skip the line ticket is a must - people were queuing down the street at the ticket office, but there is a separate entrance for online bookings, where there was no queue at all. The ticket is valid for entry any time from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Great communication following booking regarding meeting points etc. Both venues are stunningly beautiful and full of the history of budapest and Hungary. The Parliament tour is audio guided and takes around 45mins with plenty of opportunity to take pics. We also saw the changing of the guard which occurs each hour. The tour of St Stephens basilica was provided by a very knowledgeable local and we were even lucky enough to hear the organ playing as part of practice for a concert. The view at the top of st Stephens basilica is incredible, although not for the faint hearted if you don't like heights. There are lifts up & down, but to reach the top view there are stairs. Overall, this is a must do experience if visiting budapest
