We recommend booking tickets directly online. While these are time-specific, there are usually only a few remaining tickets—if any—available at the ticket counter. Around 11 a.m. in mid-July, there were already quite a few people there, but the crowd thinned out and it wasn’t overcrowded… Everything is well organized, the walking paths are very well signposted, and the boat departures are well-scheduled. I took Route C and completed it in just under 4 hours at a brisk pace through the park. This includes several short hikes across the park’s various levels, a great boat ride across Lake Kozjak, and, at the end, a bus transfer (buses run every 30 minutes) from the upper lakes back to the entrance. Admission is €40 during peak season, which is a hefty price. However, the experience is highly recommended, so it’s generally worth it. All in all, I can recommend the park. Unfortunately, there was initially an error message during the payment process when I booked, so I booked a second time. Ultimately, however, my credit card was charged twice and cancellation was no longer possible. So I ended up with a second ticket that I couldn’t use, and it was a very expensive experience. Of course, this has nothing to do with Plitvice Lakes itself.

We had an amazing day exploring Plitvice Lakes National Park with Samantha. It was the very first time we’d hired a guide for a tour, and this experience completely changed our minds. We won’t hesitate to hire a guide again on future trips, as it truly added so much value to the visit. Samantha was remarkably kind from start to finish. Always smiling, attentive, and passionate, she made the day both enjoyable and interesting. She shared many stories about the park, its wildlife, flora, and history, which made the tour come alive and kept us captivated. Thanks to her explanations, we discovered much more than just beautiful landscapes. She helped us understand the park’s history, how it was formed, how it operates, and all the details we would never have noticed on our own. A huge thank you to Samantha for her professionalism, her cheerful disposition, and her kindness. This tour will remain one of the best memories of our stay in Croatia. We recommend her without hesitation to anyone who wants to experience Plitvice Lakes in the best possible way.

I’ve been to Plitvice Lakes many times, but I’ve never seen two lakes that look exactly alike. The lakes boast a rich palette of colors, with tree stumps covered in underwater limestone and the soothing power of the waterfalls. The infrastructure is very well-developed; where the road might be in poor condition, it has been repaired for safety. You’re taken to the starting point, and that’s where the experience begins. After a long walk and a wealth of experiences—when the average person can really feel the distance covered—comes a relaxing boat ride, at the end of which a rest stop awaits, so we can refresh ourselves before tackling the final stretch. After this wonderful finale, leaving the climb behind us, the vehicle awaits us once again to take us back to the starting point. We’ll be back soon, in a different season.

A beautiful place for a long, peaceful walk, amid the murmur of brooks, the gurgling of streams, and the roar of waterfalls. It’s worth taking the longer route—if you take the shortest one, you’ll miss out on a lot of wonderful views. Walking at a leisurely pace, with numerous stops and rests, you can admire the beauty of nature for 8–9 hours.
