Pro tips to help you make a pick

Prebook your Mirador time slot to avoid rescheduling, especially during city events or busy weekends.

If you need step-free access, note that the Mirador is not wheelchair accessible due to internal stairs.

Pair your visit with a theatre show or pizza on Avenida Corrientes for a classic Buenos Aires evening.

Bring a wide-angle lens for the best skyline photos. The mirador's windows are compact and framing can be tight.

Check for public demonstrations or celebrations in the plaza, as these may affect access to the Mirador.

Travel light, as bags are subject to security checks and there’s limited space inside the monument.

If booking through a third-party, confirm ticket redemption steps, as some require on-site voucher exchange.

Expect crowds at ground level, especially in the evening; cross at designated crosswalks for the best photo angles.

Did you know?

The Obelisco stands 67.5 meters tall and was constructed in 1936 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Buenos Aires’ first foundation.

Its Mirador (observation deck) opened to the public in November 2025, allowing visitors inside for the first time in decades.

The monument is made of reinforced concrete faced with white stone from Córdoba, giving it its distinctive appearance.

There is only one public entrance to the Mirador, located on the Avenida Corrientes (west) side of the Obelisco.

The Mirador experience is compact: an elevator (with a capacity for four) and a spiral staircase lead to a glassed-in viewpoint with four windows.

It was a unique experience, especially since it has been open to the general public for the past six months—something that would have been unthinkable at first. The staff there are very friendly and explain things clearly.
