I now understand the magic of ceramics. The quality of the artifacts is world class. For this museum alone a stay in Taipei is essential. Disables access is available and easily found. A great ice cream shop is in the start of the ramps and the museum restaurant on 4 th floor had great food great views and great staff. 4 1/2 hours went quickly. Having a prepaid ticket meant no line ups

It was super easy to book the tickets, and I was glad that the cost of ticket and audio guide was cheaper than buying at the front counter. The directions given in the email was very clear and getting there was a breeze. I arrived at 10 am and left when the museum closed at 5 pm, and I only completed the third floor. The Bronze exhibition and Jade exhibition was amazing; a walk from Shang Dynasty to Qin-Han Dynasties. The curation and storytelling was illuminating of the philosophies, lives, cares and concerns of the periods.

The building itself is stunning, but the real magic is inside—everyone mentioned the cabbage but the paintings completely drew me in. I don’t know why, but the pig sculpture was so simple yet oddly charming. Not overwhelming, just quietly impressive. Definitely worth the visit.
