Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera is a spectacular fusion of grand-scale theatre and iconic waterfront staging. The soaring vocals, dramatic set design, and dazzling harbour backdrop create an unforgettable atmosphere, while the fireworks and immersive visuals elevate the classic story into a uniquely Sydney experience. Though the large outdoor venue can soften some emotional intimacy, the sheer production value, orchestra, and breathtaking spectacle make it a must-see for both devoted fans and first-time viewers.
The outdoor stage experience was truly special! The set design was meticulously crafted, the actors and dancers were incredibly dedicated, and hearing the singing live was truly breathtaking! There were mature, powerful vocals as well as the soft, delicate style of young girls—the emotions were so nuanced. It was a feast for both the eyes and the ears! And that grand chandelier at the end was the perfect finishing touch! I’m a visitor from Taiwan, and I feel truly honored to have been able to see this special 40th-anniversary stage performance!
Funny thing is, i screwed up, we thought we were seeing a show at the opera house, we just chose your show because it matched our travel schedule, we live in Key West and were on an aussie vandango. once the initial embarrassment was over, and we settle in at the Lyric, we were absolutely blown away by the adaption from screen to stage. the delorian! wow...kudos to the set director and his staff. just wow. great show, Doc was the star, but the whole cast nailed each character. 5 stars ain't enough.
