What a truly beautiful show! When booking I was excited to see how they would bring this lovely story to a live action/puppetry version. Without giving too much away, my mind was blown! This is a must-see for adults and children alike. The cast are amazing, Totoro and his friends will take your breath away, and the puppeteers must be congratulated for their amazing expertise. It's a spellbinding production that will stay with me for a very long time.

Absolutely magical from start to finish! The My Neighbor Totoro theatre production was breathtaking — the stage design, costumes, music, and acting captured the spirit of the film perfectly while adding something truly special of its own. The atmosphere was cozy, emotional, and full of wonder. I smiled the entire time and even teared up a little. A must-see for any Studio Ghibli fan — or anyone who loves beautiful storytelling.

I loved Mon Voisin Totoro! The actors are very talented, the staging is meticulous and I think Totoro is very realistic on stage. It was MAGICAL, a return to childhood guaranteed, and I recommend it to everyone :)

Last night’s performance of My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre was truly outstanding—an adaptation that doesn’t just “look beautiful,” but genuinely captures the spirit and emotional texture of the film. The production is packed with lovingly observed details, from iconic moments like the rainy bus-stop scene to the quiet, everyday gestures that make the story feel so human. It feels remarkably faithful to the original, while translating it into a stage language that is fresh, precise, and deeply immersive. The cast delivered consistently strong performances with impressive emotional control—natural, layered, and never exaggerated. What also stood out was the work of the kuroko-style stagehands: their scene changes and prop transitions were lightning-fast and incredibly clean, keeping the storytelling fluid without breaking the atmosphere for a second. The music team was exceptional as well—powerful live playing, excellent dynamics, and vocals that were genuinely beautiful and well-placed, enhancing the mood rather than overpowering it. Everything—acting, movement, design, music, pacing—felt perfectly balanced. Even now, I’m still thinking about it, with that lingering warmth and “afterglow” you only get from something truly special.

There is magic wrapped up in this production. To tell you what to expect would dampen the reveal, the wonder, the sensation it creates. What I will say if you've not seen one like this before.
