The site was first documented in 1267, but the present castle was inaugurated on October 3, 1867. This is the main castle entrance reached from the parking area by shuttle or uphill walk. Online ticket holders proceed here for entry control, while on-site ticket purchases are handled earlier at Parking Shop P1. An elevator a few meters from Adlertor helps visitors reach Schnarrwacht Bastion.
