The Grand Sumo Tournament at Ryōgoku Kokugikan was completely sold out if you tried to purchase tickets on your own, so having the reserved seats through this experience made all the difference. We also gained so much more than just admission to the tournament. Melody our English-speaking expert guide provided a wealth of fascinating knowledge about the history, traditions, rituals and culture of sumo, which gave us a much deeper appreciation for what we were watching. From the ceremonies and purification rituals to the rules, rankings and traditions surrounding the wrestlers, we came away understanding and appreciating sumo on an entirely different level. And seeing these incredible athletes compete live, right in front of us, was something we'll never forget — especially watching Ōhō, weighing an incredible 434 pounds, win his bout! For anyone visiting Tokyo who wants more than simply sitting in the stands and watching sumo, this is the experience we would highly recommend. The combination of guaranteed reserved seating and an incredibly knowledgeable English guide turned what could have been simply a sporting event into an unforgettable cultural experience.

Being inside the arena, watching the lightning quick matches was exhilirating! After many years of visiting Japan, we are finally able to experience this! Our Guide, GEORGE, was very good in explaining the details that an audience would need to appreciate more what is happening. Learning that Sumo is not a sport BUT a Shinto ritual explains certain gestures we observed. AND being able to watch a Grand Champion LIVE was a bonus.

We had a great time. We don't usually go in for the group tours but this was terrific, met some lovely people. The seats were really good. Informative and charming guide (Gearge is the best) lots of info and we got a good amount of understanding of the rules and context of the sport/ceremonial parts of the day Highly recommended

It was an incredible experience. I was able to fully appreciate the experience thanks to our guide Sergio, who speaks many languages, because he prepared us very well for what we were going to see. An experience that helped make my first trip to Japan an unforgettable vacation.

George was a very accommodating guide. This issue is not George. The issue is where our seats were. We were in the nose bleeds. Literally second to last seats all the way to the top. We paid roughly about $200 per ticket for a $15 seat. So be careful because it doesn't show you were exactly you'll be sitting. If I had known I would had just skipped going. If you are going just for the experience then by all means. But I am really into sumo and going through amigo was last resort because tickets were quite difficult when released. It's unfortunate we live in a world of supply and demand so tour companies buy all the cheap seats and sale at a premium. I'm glad I got to experience my first sumo tournament but next time I'll try my luck again through official website versus a tour company. Going through a tour company maybe convienent but I rather go through the hassle and better seats.
