Since we were based in Shinjuku, we figured this tour was a good chance to try a bunch of different street foods and get a bit more insight on the area. Even though we got there late, the guide still helped us out by keeping in touch so we could catch up easily. The pace was relaxed and matched what the description said. The guide mixed in cool facts about food traditions and had some good jokes too. He also seemed to really know Shinjuku since he goes there a lot, so it felt more personal. If you’re interested in the vibe described, it’s a solid pick. Just a heads up, Golden Gai isn’t exactly “unique atmosphere”—it’s more rough-around-the-edges, and the bar scene can feel sketchy, but nothing ever felt unsafe.

I joined this tour solo, hoping to get deeper into Tokyo's food scene than I could on my own, and I was genuinely impressed. We visited four different eateries, each offering something distinct—crunchy kushikatsu at one, unbelievably fresh sushi at another, and some gyoza that I'll probably dream about for weeks. The guide clearly knew the area and its culinary history, mixing tidbits about Shinjuku’s nightlife with advice on how to eat each dish. I also appreciated how the group included both solo travelers like me and couples, so it felt social without being forced. Only thing I’d improve is the noise level in one izakaya, but that’s just Tokyo! Overall, a great food-forward night out.

As a foodie couple visiting Japan for the first time, we wanted to get a real sense of what locals eat. This Shinjuku tour fit the bill perfectly. Our host was friendly and full of cool trivia about each dish and the area itself. We tasted everything from gyoza to kushikatsu and sampled two types of sake. The walk between eateries gave a good glimpse of Tokyo after dark, too. Some of the venues were a tad cramped, but that felt pretty authentic. Highly recommend if you want to try lots of food in one night.

Had the best time—awesome food, lots of laughs, and great people. Ali and Koki were super friendly and knew so much, kept things lively the whole evening. We hit up three different dinner spots and went somewhere else for dessert, which was fantastic. Tons of info about Shinjuku, plus they always checked on any food restrictions. Didn’t have to stress over what to order, they took care of that. If you get a chance to join this tour, you absolutely should!

Brought my friends along for the Shinjuku food tour, and it was a hit for all of us. There was a good mix of classic and lesser-known Japanese dishes, and everyone found something they loved (for me, it was the kushikatsu!). Our guide kept things lively, sharing stories and making recommendations for the area. Only small gripe—moving between spots felt a bit rushed, but I guess that’s how you fit it all in. Would recommend for group travelers.
