About Casa Vicens

Considered his first masterpiece, the Vicens House, was Antoni Gaudí's first significant contract in 1878. On this creative, contemporary, and avant-garde project, the architect employs many of the structural, ornamental, and symbolic components that eventually came to characterize his architectural language for the first time.

Did you know?

Casa Vicens was built as a summer home, and Gaudí incorporated subtle symbols throughout the design reflecting this. Look for sunflowers and marigolds in the tilework, which were traditional summer flowers in Catalonia.

Why visit Casa Vicens?

Birth of Gaudí's genius

Casa Vicens is not just Gaudí's first major project, it's the foundation for his entire architectural language. See the early hints of his signature curves, vibrant colors, and nature-inspired forms that would blossom in his later masterpieces like Sagrada Familia and Park Güell.

Simply wonderful!!!! Much of what I had heard before about Gaudí made sense when I visited Casa Milá. It’s very well preserved and treated with the respect and care that such magnificent works deserve.
