About Atelier des Lumieres

Atelier des Lumières is a digital art center in a former iron foundry, so the industrial pillars, beams, and platforms are part of the show. Unlike a traditional museum, it displays no original artworks; high-resolution reproductions are animated across walls, floor, and architectural surfaces. Visitors can stand close, step back for a full panorama, or watch from raised walkways.

Why visit Atelier des Lumieres?

360° Projections Across a ~3,300 m² Hall

The main hall covers ~3,300 m², with walls up to ~10 meters high, giving the projections unusual scale. Instead of watching one screen, you walk through moving images spread across the walls, floor, and architectural elements while the program plays in a continuous loop.

Main Entrance - Rue Saint-Maur

Located at 38 Rue Saint-Maur, this is the main public entrance for all visitors. Look for the street-level glass and industrial-style facade. Timed-entry visitors join the same entrance line here before moving into the foyer, where printed or mobile tickets are scanned at the internal control point. Bag checks or other entry controls may take place before or after scanning, and these apply to everyone. Queues can form on the sidewalk before popular sessions. The entrance appears to have flat street access into the foyer, but detailed information about step-free circulation deeper inside the venue is not clearly published.
