The coordination of the ferry and the bus were great. Two of the three driver/tour guide either mumbled or did not speak loud enough to hear consistently. We had a bad experience with food at the only vineyard (Stonyridge) we visited.

I couldn't figure out how the e-audio guide works, especially since it's mandatory and you have to pay for it. You might as well buy tickets on-site to avoid these unnecessary fees. Otherwise, the temples are nice.
    • Skip the ticket queue and step directly onto the UNESCO-listed ridge where Greek settlers built their most ambitious monuments, 2,500 years ago and still standing.

    • The Temple of Concordia is so structurally intact that 6th-century Christians converted it into a church. Look closely and you can still see where they cut arched openings into its ancient walls.

    • The Temple of Juno sits at the ridge's eastern edge, its honey-coloured columns scorched red on one side. The mark of a Carthaginian attack in 406 BC that the stone never forgot.

    • End inside the Treasures of Italy exhibition, where the jewellery, coins, and sculptures excavated from this valley show you what these temples looked like when they were alive.

    • Choose to add the Kolymbethra Gardens, a lush ancient garden tucked within the valley, or include a Pemcard to have a photo from the day printed and mailed as a real postcard from the site.

    • Entry ticket to the Valley of the Temples

    • Self-guided audio tour in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese

    • Entry to the "Treasures of Italy" exhibition

    • Headphones and mobile device

Definitely a convenience not having to wait in line to purchase tickets! And was able to go in 20 minutes early! Win, win!

Easy entry, though crowds were low and no significant lines at ticket booth
  • Walk the same ridge where Greek settlers raised their most ambitious temples, and actually understand what you're looking at.

    Getting started

Head to the main entrance of the Valle dei Templi archaeological park and use your fast-track ticket to skip the queue. Once inside, set off at your own pace.

    What to expect

    Valley of the Temples

One of the best-preserved ancient Greek temple complexes in the world, the Valley of the Temples stretches across a limestone ridge above Agrigento, with ruins dating back to the 5th century BC.

    • Temple of Concordia: So structurally sound that 6th-century Christians converted it into a church. Your audio guide points out the arched openings cut into its ancient walls during that conversion, still visible today.

    • Temple of Juno: At the ridge's eastern edge, its columns are scorched red on one side from a Carthaginian attack in 406 BC. The audio guide gives you the full story of the siege behind the scorch marks.

    • Treasures of Italy Exhibition: On-site exhibition displaying the jewellery, coins, and sculptures excavated from the valley, showing you what these temples looked like when they were active.

    • Options: Add the Kolymbethra Gardens for a quieter contrast to the open ridge, an ancient garden with almond and citrus trees tucked into a natural hollow within the park. Or include a Pemcard to have a photo from the day printed and mailed as a real postcard from the site.

  • What to bring

    • Carry water and wear comfortable walking shoes suitable for uneven terrain.

    What's not allowed

    • Pets, if brought along, are not allowed to enter any of the temples or approach the protected monuments.

    Accessibility

    • 2 electric wheelchairs are available for visitors with special needs. There is no additional charge for the service, but requests for the wheelchair have to be made at least one day prior to the date of arrival.
