Book the cable car ahead: The cable car is one of Teide’s most popular experiences, and availability is limited. If reaching the upper station is high on your list, reserve your preferred date and time before arriving rather than leaving it to chance.

Don't underestimate the temperature: Beach weather below does not mean T-shirt weather on Teide. Temperatures drop considerably with altitude, and evenings can get especially cold. Bring warm layers even if you left your hotel in sunshine.

Pick your tour by what you actually want to see: For volcanic landscapes, choose a daytime guided tour. For the easiest high-altitude experience, add cable car tickets. Curious about astronomy? Choose an observatory visit. Want the biggest contrast? Go for a sunset and stargazing experience.

Transfers can save a lot of planning: Mount Teide is high in Tenerife’s interior, so getting there and back can become a sizeable part of the day. Several guided experiences include round-trip transfers from North or South Tenerife, making them particularly handy if you don't have a rental car.

Give yourself time to adjust: You’ll be travelling from sea level to serious altitude fairly quickly. Walk slowly, stay hydrated, and don't pack your itinerary so tightly that you have to rush around once you reach the higher sections.

Measured from the ocean floor, the Teide-Pico Viejo volcanic structure rises roughly 7,500m, making it one of the tallest volcanic structures on Earth.
