Getting started

What to expect
Gain insight into the origins of tea ceremony, its Zen influences, and the meaning behind its rituals and movements.
Observe the traditional preparation inside the tea room before enjoying a bowl of matcha prepared by the host. Your tea is paired with a seasonal Japanese sweet from a Kyoto confectioner with over 100 years of history.
Select a tea bowl for the hands-on part of the experience and become familiar with the traditional utensils used to prepare matcha.
