We had the pleasure of visiting both Holyrood Palace and Edinburgh Castle, and we absolutely loved both experiences! They were truly amazing, and we would highly recommend them to anyone visiting Edinburgh. We book almost all of our experiences through Headout, and everything has gone smoothly every time. Unfortunately, the weather caused a few issues during our trip, meaning we had to reschedule some of our activities for different days. However, the Headout team was incredibly helpful and guided us in the right direction, making the whole process much easier. We also decided to book a full-day trip to the Scottish Highlands through Headout, which turned out to be a huge success and one of the highlights of our trip! This smaller, early morning tour was wonderful. The tour guides were spectacular and wonderfully kind. The whole tour laster longer than my wife and I were able to stay (we had a flight to catch), but we stretched it until the very last moment. I was a little sad that I couldn't take pictures inside the actual building, but that's a very understandable and reasonable rule. However, I particularly liked being able to get up close (no touching though) some of the tapestries, and art to see the details and marvel at the skills of the art, embroidery, and woodwork performed in many of these rooms. This tour was wonderful, and I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone, especially if you like history and admiring craftsmanship.

Holyrood - I enjoyed walking and listening to audio guide in my own pace. Everything was clearly signed. The gift shop was lovely. Whiskey experience - the graphic presentation was interesting and helpful for me who enjoys visual learning rather than just listening. Guide Archie was fun and well suited for this job. The only PROBLEM was me buying this combo pass for 2 but only receiving 1 pass for the palace and 2 for the whiskey. I had to buy one more pass on the spot so will be sorting that out with the company.

The Tour was absolutely fantastic and highly recommended however the instructions to pick up the tickets for the start of the tour were complete rubbish. The instructions were to meet in front of the main gate when the ACTUAL process was to pick up the booked tickets inside. Nothing in the instructions said this and almost missed the tour. I have rated this highly because the Tour was fantastic. I would rate the experience via ZERO instructions as low.

Wonderful walk through the history of Scotland at Holyrood palace. The self guided tour with audio highlights gave so many insights and really helped put you in the time the palace housed Mary Queen of Scots and many others. Truly enjoyed our time there.
