About Shanghai Tower

A 632 m supertall with a twisting exterior and double-skin façade, Shanghai Tower combines skyline viewing with engineering content rather than just a lookout. The Top of Shanghai deck is primarily indoors, making weather protection part of the experience. Exhibits explain the tower’s design, and nearby SWFC and Jin Mao Tower make it easy to compare multiple Pudong viewpoints in one outing.

Did you know?

CTBUH says Shanghai Tower’s twisting form was designed to reduce wind loads by ~24%, a structural change that improves efficiency and comfort in a supertall building.

Why visit Shanghai Tower?

632 m Height Above Shanghai’s Skyline

Shanghai Tower reaches 632 m, and some ticket variants describe the main observation experience at 546 m above ground. From this indoor deck, floor-to-ceiling windows open onto the Huangpu River, the Bund, and Pudong’s dense cluster of skyscrapers.

Plan your visit

Main Podium Entrance (Shanghai Tower Lobby)

Located at the base podium of Shanghai Tower facing Yincheng Middle Road, this is the primary entrance for all regular observation deck visitors. Ticket counters and the visitor entrance are inside the podium, so this is where you join the line if you need to buy or collect tickets. Staff scan QR codes or physical tickets inside before bag check, security screening, and the elevator boarding area. Queues are typically longest around sunset, on weekends, and on holidays. The building appears to have wide entrances and elevators consistent with a modern high-rise, but detailed English wheelchair-route information is not clearly documented.
