Yesterday
I had visitors from Lüneburg and planned something special... a steamboat trip fell through because the Elbe River was too low on water, so: off we went to our beautiful, magnificent Semperoper! The tour was very informative. We learned about the history of the building, its builder, the artists, composers, operas, and the restoration. The huge chandelier, which we were able to view from the box, was sensational... Next time we will attend a performance to see the versatile stage in action and to enjoy the varied program.

The tour of the Semperoper impressed us deeply. A fascinating building with a moving history. The lady (Susanne) who led yesterday's tour shone with her friendly personality and 100% professional expertise. My wife and I will certainly be attending an official event at the Semperoper in appropriate attire in the near future. Thank you very much for these opportunities. Dresden is really great. Best regards, Ralf and Steffi Weschenfelder.

Our tour guide gave a very engaging talk about the Semper Opera House and its architectural history. We learned a lot about the restoration work and the special techniques used. She was easy to understand. She also shared a few little anecdotes along the way. It was a wonderful experience.

Yesterday
Seeing Dresden from the water opened up unexpected and completely new perspectives. Accompanied by well-balanced commentary explaining the main sights, the boat trip became a real highlight of our trip to Dresden.

The boat ride was wonderful because it relieves stress and lets everything settle down a bit. The view from the Elbe is absolutely stunning, and the smell of the engine room brings back childhood memories. :)

It was short enough not to get boring and long enough to feel well-informed. It was just a shame that the stage was blocked by the "iron curtain."
    • Dresden's Elbe River cruise is a great way for you and your family to relax and admire its historic riverside landmarks.

    • See the 131-year-old Loschwitz Bridge aka "Blue Wonder" and three palaces, and learn about them through the audio commentary.

    • Discover the glamourous opera auditorium in Semperoper with ornate rooms and unique acoustics with an expert English/German-speaking guide.

    • Observe the magnificent opera house and learn about its tragic past before the bombing at Dresden occurred.

    • Fun fact: The Semperoper is designed so that every musical note played in the auditorium will reach every corner of it.

The boat ride was very nice, and the sights were varied and interesting. The food and drink menu, on the other hand, was overpriced. But for a 1⅕-hour ride, the value for money is good. Thank you very much.

The tour guide spoke with great enthusiasm about the history of the opera house. It was like a solo performance at the opera. It was a lively narrative.
