Extremely talented actors! Costume, stage, soundtrack and lights were absolutely incredible! Perfect amount of seriousness and comedy! Absolutely loved the symbolism and metaphors used within the play! Throughly enjoyed this experience, I was sure it wouldn't disappoint ☺️

Evita o empurra-empurra no bar.

Fences is August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, famously adapted into an Oscar-winning film starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis.

This modern classic has earned Tony and Olivier Awards, with past productions praised for their powerful performances and direction.

Tackling themes of family, race, and dreams deferred, the play’s poetic dialogue and intimate staging draw you into 1950s Pittsburgh life—book Fences London tickets for a moving night out.

The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre hosts this limited run, making it a must-see for fans of powerful drama and thought-provoking storytelling.

The story

Set in 1950s Pittsburgh, Fences follows Troy Maxson, a former Negro League baseball star now working as a garbage collector. As Troy struggles with his past disappointments and present responsibilities, tensions rise within his family, especially with his son Cory, who dreams of a future beyond his father’s shadow. With dreams, regrets, and generational conflict simmering, the Maxson family’s fate hangs in the balance—will old wounds heal, or will new fences rise?
