From the station, you’ll enter the expansive grounds of Nara Park, where nature and history intertwine. The path leads you onward to the monumental Todai-ji Temple, home to the Great Buddha. Inside its wooden hall—one of the largest in the world—you’ll discover the spiritual and political significance this temple has held for over a millennium.

Leaving the temple grounds, the tour shifts toward living craftsmanship with a visit to Kikuichi Monjushiro Kanenaga. Established over 750 years ago, this historic knife-making company offers a rare glimpse into traditional Japanese blade artistry. You’ll learn about the forging techniques, materials, and philosophy behind tools that are still used by professional chefs across Japan.

A well-deserved lunch follows at a carefully selected local restaurant, where seasonal ingredients and regional flavors highlight Nara’s understated culinary identity.

In the afternoon, you’ll walk through forested pathways toward the atmospheric Kasuga Taisha, famous for its thousands of stone and bronze lanterns. The serene setting, nestled at the foot of Mount Kasuga, offers a striking contrast to the grandeur of Todai-ji.
