GroupVerified bookingLast week5/5My girlfriend loved the romantic castles! After picking up the tickets at the office it was clear what to do. Great explaination! We traveled to the castles, parked the car exactly where we wanted. We visited both castles and really enjoyed the our experience! It is important to be at Neuschwanstein at time for your time slot. We were a bit late and had to rush up the stairs for our tour. other then that lots of reasons to visit both castles! its worth the money!LLogan S
FamilyVerified bookingLast week5/5This was one of the biggest highlights of our trip!! Monika, our tour guide, was so lovely and knowledgeable. The castles were GORGEOUS, the bus tour over there was convenient and comfortable, and the vibes were amazing. We learned so much about King Ludwig II's story and a lot of German history for context. We even learned about Onion Domes... you will too if you go on this wonderful tour!!LLuis T

GroupVerified bookingLast week5/5Write a review of Neuschwanstein Castle highlighting the wonderful attraction from the point of view of a first time visitor who walked the approach. 500 words Neuschwanstein Castle feels less like a building you visit and more like a destination you gradually earn. As a first-time visitor, walking the approach made the experience far more memorable than simply arriving at the entrance could have. The climb from the village of Hohenschwangau is steady rather than extreme, but it gives you time to anticipate what is ahead: glimpses of pale stone walls through the trees, the sound of horse-drawn carriages passing on the road, and the dramatic Alpine landscape opening out behind you. The walk is part of the attraction. At first, Neuschwanstein seems distant and almost unreal, perched high above the valley like an illustration from a storybook. Then, with every bend in the path, it becomes more imposing. Its towers rise above the forest, and its mixture of Romanesque-style arches, steep roofs, and decorative turrets feels deliberately theatrical. It is easy to understand why the castle has become one of Germany’s most recognizable landmarks—and why it is often associated with the idealized fairytale castle. Reaching the upper area is rewarding not just because the climb is over, but because of the views. The surrounding landscape is magnificent: deep green woodland, mountain slopes, lakes in the distance, and the smaller Hohenschwangau Castle below. Even before entering, it feels as though you are standing inside a carefully composed scene. The setting contributes as much to Neuschwanstein’s magic as the castle itself. The exterior is extraordinary. From close range, the detail becomes clearer: carved stonework, narrow windows, balconies, and towers layered against the sky. It is grand without feeling cold. Instead, it seems personal and imaginative, reflecting the vision of King Ludwig II, who commissioned it as a romantic retreat inspired by medieval legends and operatic fantasies. That sense of imagination carries through the visit. Neuschwanstein was never intended to be a practical fortress; it was designed as a dream of what a castle could be. Inside, the rooms are richly decorative and often surprisingly intimate compared with the monumental exterior. Painted scenes, ornate woodwork, chandeliers, and themed interiors create a sense of complete immersion. The décor is theatrical, but in the best way: every room appears to tell part of a larger story. The castle’s famous inspiration from Wagnerian myth and medieval romance is especially apparent, making the tour feel less like a standard historical visit and more like stepping into Ludwig’s private fantasy world. For first-time visitors, the main advice is simple: do not rush the approach. If possible, walk rather than taking a shuttle or carriage. The gradual journey builds anticipation, provides changing viewpoints, and makes the first close-up sight of the castle far more satisfying. Wear comfortable shoes, allow extra time, and pause often—not only to catch your breath, but to appreciate the landscape. Neuschwanstein can be busy, and its popularity means the experience is shared with many other visitors. Yet its beauty easily rises above the crowds. Walking toward it through the Bavarian hills, seeing its towers emerge between the trees, and finally standing beneath its walls is genuinely enchanting. For a first visit, Neuschwanstein delivers exactly what one hopes for: grandeur, romance, scenery, and a lasting sense of wonder.AAndreas F
FamilyVerified booking3 weeks ago5/5Absolutely fantastic. The tour guide (Stephen) picked us up at the parking lot at the agreed-upon time. A bus had been arranged to take us to the Marienbrücke. Stephen was the best tour guide I’ve ever met. He had truly in-depth historical knowledge and was very entertaining. He explained the itinerary perfectly. The tour of the castle was also very good. We took a horse-drawn carriage ride back down into the valley. Best day ever. Customer service was also great when I had questions about the tickets. Highly recommended.
