Pro tips to help you make a pick

Do not assume a standard Prague Castle circuit ticket covers Lobkowicz Palace. It is a separate private museum ticket, so compare a museum-only entry with the museum + midday concert combo before planning your Castle budget.

About Lobkowicz Palace Museum

Lobkowicz Palace is the only privately owned building within the Prague Castle complex, and that shapes the museum experience. Instead of a state collection, you follow one family’s holdings across paintings, decorative arts, and music manuscripts, with an audio guide that covers Nazi and Communist confiscations, later restitution, and the family’s links to Beethoven, Bruegel, and Canaletto.

Did you know?

Lobkowicz Palace is the only privately owned building inside Prague Castle, and the family reopened it as a museum after regaining it following the fall of Communism.

Why visit Lobkowicz Palace Museum?

Only Privately Owned Palace in Prague Castle

Lobkowicz Palace is the only privately owned building within Prague Castle. The museum explains how the family lost the palace under the Nazis and Communists and later regained it, so the collection is presented with a living ownership story rather than as an anonymous historic interior.

Plan your visit

Lobkowicz Palace Main Entrance

Located on Jiřská Street on the eastern side of the Prague Castle complex, this is the standard entrance for all museum visitors. Look for signage for “Lobkowicz Palace.” Tickets are checked at the museum reception just inside, where staff also provide audio guide devices. If you already have a valid mobile or printed ticket, you can usually proceed directly to reception; on-site ticketing and audio guide pickup may involve a short wait at busy times. Access to the entrance involves Castle courtyards, cobblestones, and some sloping sections, so allow extra time if mobility is limited.

Prague Castle Security Gates

Before reaching the museum, all visitors must enter Prague Castle through shared outer security gates, including the main gate at Hradčanské náměstí and other side gates into the complex. Use the gate closest to your arrival route; the main gate is common for tram and taxi arrivals. These checkpoints handle metal detectors and bag screening, and they are the main place where queues form, especially around peak summer mid-day. Visitors with mobility concerns should budget extra time here, then continue on foot through the courtyards toward the eastern side of the complex for the palace entrance.
