Pinnacle Road Summit Access

Located at the summit end of Pinnacle Road, reached from Hobart via Davey Street, Huon Road, and Pillinger Drive, this is the main access point for self-drivers, guided tours, shuttles, taxis, and rideshares heading straight to the lookout. There is no entry gate or ticket check for private visitors. This is the most practical arrival point for short visits and for visitors with limited mobility, as viewing areas and short boardwalk sections are near the car park and shelter. Toilets are available at or near the summit, but facilities are otherwise basic. On busy days and peak holiday periods, the summit car park can fill up and you may need to park farther down.

Fern Tree Access

Fern Tree is the main lower-slope access point for walkers, around 9 km from Hobart CBD and reachable by car or Metro bus to the foothills. Use this access if you plan to hike up into Wellington Park rather than drive to the pinnacle. There is no regular public bus to the summit, so starting here means a significant uphill walk. Some lower car parks have toilets, but facilities are limited overall. This access is less suitable for visitors with limited mobility because routes from Fern Tree can be steep, rocky, and exposed in poor weather.

The tour was so easy to access. Great commentary. We had a day to fill in and the 24hr use was great. Did the whole ride then went back to where we wanted! The Cascade Brewery for lunch. Beautiful
