Getting started

Arrive at the weaving cooperative in the Essaouira area and meet your cooperative weaver instructor and professional guide. After a short introduction to traditional weaving methods in Essaouira, you will be shown to your loom and materials. Once everyone in the standard group workshop is set up, the hands-on weaving at the loom begins.

During this 2-hour hands-on weaving workshop, you will learn how woven wall pieces and carpets are made using traditional techniques from Essaouira.

Features

This is a practical session where you focus on technique rather than theory.

• Traditional Moroccan tea and water are included during the session, giving you a short pause from the loom when needed.
