What to expect
Maasai and Samburu cultural workshop
This single-session workshop focuses on Samburu and Maasai traditions through movement, craft, and practical skills. Across the class, you rotate through interactive stations that highlight music, fire-making, hairstyling, and beadwork, guided by community practitioners.
Features
Ancient Samburu/Maasai dances come first, as you join a guided dance experience and class to discover traditional steps, rhythms, and group formations used in cultural ceremonies.
The firelighting experience then shows you the art of traditional fire lighting, where you observe and practice techniques used to create flame without modern tools.
Hair styling is explored in the traditional braiding experience, focusing on the intricate craft of Samburu traditional hair braiding and how patterns are created and maintained.
A bead ornament making session lets you create personalized bead ornaments as souvenirs, learning how colors and patterns are combined in Samburu and Maasai adornment.
Throughout the workshop, venue charges are already taken care of in your booking, so you can move between activities without handling on-site payments.
