What to expect
Museum Story of Prague
This self-guided visit leads you through different eras of Prague's past, from medieval times to the twentieth century and beyond. You can allocate around 60 to 90 minutes, though you are free to explore the museum's sections in any order and linger where you like.
Features
Move from the era of knights and kings into the turbulent stories of the military leader Jan Žižka and the Hussites, then continue to exhibits on medieval torture. Exhibitions also cover the construction of the Old Town Hall and the Astronomical Clock, linking what you see here to landmarks in the city outside.
Encounter the enigmatic figure of the Golem as part of displays rooted in mysticism and folklore. Later sections let you revisit the period of Nazi occupation and Soviet rule before reaching exhibits about the Velvet Revolution and Czech global achievements.
Use your audio guide in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Czech together with the museum's mobile app to follow authentic stories and commentary as you move through each zone. Mixed reality elements, film installations, and audio features are integrated into the displays to immerse you in different chapters of Prague's history.
Stay connected with the museum's free Wi-Fi throughout your visit, which supports use of the mobile app around the building. If your device is low on battery, a power bank is available at the museum ticket desk so you can keep your audio guide and app running without interruption.
Head up to the third floor to enjoy a view over the surroundings at the end or in the middle of your visit. Since the museum is not wheelchair accessible and children must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, plan your route and pacing in advance according to your group's needs.
