Rovaniemi: Arctic SnowHotel Guided Tour

Experience the Arctic SnowHotel with an introduction, transfers, ice art, and winter activities included.

Getting started

Meet at the Rovaniemi City Center or enjoy a convenient pickup from Santa Claus Village. Once your tickets are checked, you’ll get an introduction to the Arctic SnowHotel and what to expect before you begin your visit.

A living snow & ice landmark

Step inside one of Finland’s most remarkable winter attractions, rebuilt entirely from snow and ice every year. Each winter season introduces new themes, layouts, and artistic details, meaning no two visits are ever the same. As you move through the hotel, you’ll learn how massive snow structures are shaped, how ice from nearby lakes is used, and how this temporary landmark is designed to withstand Arctic conditions throughout the season.

Ice art, rooms, & unique spaces

Explore intricately carved ice sculptures, snow corridors, and themed rooms where artists transform frozen materials into detailed works of art. You’ll see how guest rooms, public areas, and decorative elements are sculpted by hand, combining creativity with careful engineering. Highlights include the ice restaurant with its ice tables and seating, the ice bar where drinks are served in ice glasses, and the beautifully crafted ice chapel, which is fully functional and often used for weddings and special ceremonies.

Finnish ingenuity & winter lifestyle

Learn how traditional Finnish concepts are adapted to extreme winter environments, including the snow sauna, a unique example of how warmth and wellbeing are created using snow and ice. Discover insights into daily life in Arctic conditions, the techniques used to manage temperature and comfort, and the craftsmanship behind making these frozen spaces both functional and visually striking.

Time outdoors & winter fun

After the introduction portion of your visit, enjoy free time to explore the surroundings and take part in light winter activities. Head to the lakeside area to try kick sledding or tobogganing, soak in the peaceful Arctic scenery, and capture photos of the snowy landscape before returning to Rovaniemi.
