What to expect

Herbert Glacier dog sled camp

Your helicopter flight to Herbert Glacier camp takes you from Juneau to a remote dog sledding base set directly on the glacier. You spend about 60 to 70 minutes at the Herbert Glacier dog camp, giving you time for both the sled ride and time at camp.

Adventure with Alaskan Huskies: During the 40-minute dog sled ride on Herbert Glacier, you travel across the snow behind a team of Alaskan Huskies, feeling the changes in terrain beneath the sled runners. The snow-covered expanse and surrounding icefield become your trail for this portion of the excursion.

Helicopter views of the glacier: A 15-minute flightseeing return gives you aerial views on the way back from Herbert Glacier camp, adding an extra flightseeing segment to the overall helicopter experience. This return leg focuses on glacier scenery as you fly away from the dog camp.

Guided sledding experience: An experienced dog mushing guide leads your sled, manages the Alaskan Huskies, and explains how the team works together on the glacier surface. Their guidance keeps the outing structured and helps you understand the basics of glacier dog sledding.

What’s not allowed

Children cannot travel as lap passengers; a full-fare seat is required for every guest.

Providing inaccurate weight information or selecting the wrong passenger type may lead to cancellation without reimbursement.

Each helicopter carries up to six standard passengers, and larger parties may be split into separate aircraft.

While every effort is made to keep groups together, aircraft weight and balance restrictions may require separate seating.

Ticket categories and seating arrangements are based on established passenger weight classes.

Expect approximately 25–30 minutes of total helicopter flightseeing during the experience.
