I had purchased two seats on the Balcony, centre of row B. We had an amazing view onto the stage, musicians and performers. I especially loved Persephone (Rachel Adedeji) stage presence and interpretation. Hermes (Clive Rowe) had a wonderful charm and humour, as the role needs. Eventhough our main characters Eurydice (Bethany Antonia) and Orpheus (Marley Fenton) were sometimes overpowered by the supporting cast in the mix, their quiet tones helped keeping the dynamics of the play ebbing and flowing, there otherwise wouldn't have been any breathers and it was very welcome to come down a bit. I especially enjoyed "Flowers". And it was even more powerful, when they started belting in songs like "Wait for me". The deep voice of Hades (Alastair Parker) was of course a highlight and I was pleasantly surprised by his emotional performance during "Epic III". I'd also give massive props to the supporting cast, the lights and technicians. Something I looked forward to, were the round, moving stage and set-usuage. It did not disappoint! The opening stage during "Wait for me" and the lamp-light-show by the supporting cast or the opposite revolving stagepanels during "Way down Hadestown (Repise)" and "If it's True" were wonderful. It definitely was worth to catch the show as long as it runs in London and is accessible from mainland Europe. I will be recommending my family a performance during their visit in fall.

I think what i loved the most in Hadestown is the fact that everyone in on the stage at all time. Comedians, but also musicians. Even among the comedians some of them plays an instrument, and the small group of dancers are also part of the story. The story itself is beautiful, choregraphy, storytelling through dance and costume. I just loved everything.

The staff were all super friendly and the theatre is beautiful. Other people I spoke to had been to the show multiple times and I now understand why - there is nothing like it. The the on stage orchestra, the turntable stage, the incredible lighting -everything was perfect.

The place, the lighting, the cast were all perfect. I can't think of one possible bad thing about the place. The restroom were also decent and every other facility. It was easy to get in and out. 100% would recommend at least once.

Fabulous historic theater -- it seemed like even the red and black painted stairwell lent Hadestown -like ambiance. Singing was powerful, harmonies tight, dancing athletic, instruments electrifying.
  • The rollercoaster Underworld saga, set in the world of Greek mythology, is returning to London after it first played at the National Theatre in 2018. After opening to rave reviews and critical acclaim, Anaïs Mitchell and Rachel Chavkin’s Hadestown was nominated for 14 Tony Awards in 2019, a record-breaking number, and won 8 of them. It also holds a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album. So, there is no doubt that Hadestown in London is going to be a phenomenal experience. Get your tickets for Hadestown before they run out. The Underworld has never looked better.

    The story

A story about the trials and tribulations of love, Hadestown focuses on two couples — the poverty-ridden Orpheus and Eurydice and the King of the Underworld, Hades and his wife, Persephone. When Persephone is miserable about returning to the Underworld after she visits the world above, Hades heads out to search for someone who will appreciate the offerings of his home. He finds Eurydice and convinces her to move to the Underworld in exchange for food and protection. Eurydice agrees and becomes a worker at Hadestown, the dark underground factory of Hades. When Orpheus finds out, he vows to save Eurydice. What follows is a heartbreaking tale of sacrifice, triumph and the mysterious machinations of fate.

Amazing show all around. Performers, set, costumes, lighting and music were all fabulous. Shame the venue seating was too cramped for tall people.
