Quinta da Regaleira was easily one of my favourite places to visit in Sintra. I especially enjoyed strolling through the huge gardens, with their winding paths, towers, hidden grottoes and views of the surrounding mountains. There’s so much to see that it’s worth taking your time rather than rushing from one attraction to the next. I also liked learning that a lot of thought went into the design of the gardens, wells and underground tunnels, with hidden meanings and references to mythology and old spiritual traditions. It makes you look at the whole place a little differently, knowing that so many of the details are there for a reason. The famous Initiation Well is definitely a highlight, but I was just as impressed by the underground tunnels. Walking through those dimly lit stone passages was quite an experience, especially since some of the rough stones almost look like skulls at first glance. A little eerie, but also really intriguing! And as a lovely little bonus, we even came across a cute cat hanging out in the castle gardens, looking completely at home among all the visitors. Such an unusual and memorable place, and definitely worth spending a few hours exploring!

The tour was a real treat, from the moment we bought our tickets until the end of the tour. It was a wonderful adventure full of charm, where we got to see fantastic attractions that left us in awe. You truly gave us a wonderful day and a very enchanting afternoon, during which we were able to visit the initiation site, also known as “QUINTA DA REGALEIRA.” Skipping the ticket lines was great and allowed us to make the most of the day; it really was a fantastic experience that HEADOUT nos proporcionou e recomendamos essa empresa a todas as pessoas que também querem, assim como nós, viver experiências fantásticas e descobrir as maravilhas que só se pode desfrutar quem viu de perto. headout is a great app, got me the tickets and kept mr notified, and the tickets were easily accessible in my email. Locations were clearly marked for gaining access to the mountaintop, we took a tuktuk up to the entrance of the castle trail. One thing that the park officials need to do is improve the signage in the area. There is literally not one single sign between the base of the Moorish trails to tell you how to get back down to Sintra. Once in Sintra, no signs for the Quinta de Regaleira! Fortunately we just kept following Google walking maps and got there. Got out my email from from headout and boom there's the tickets. Quinta de Regaleira was amazing and beautiful.

We were so fortunate as to have Pedro for our tuck tuck guide. Not only did he tour us around Sintra and Cascais but he also took us to the beach and to all of the spots that were not touristy. Pedro has the inside scoop on where to go, where to stand for the best pictures, and what the true important things and must sees are. He is the best guide we have had on any trip bar none. If you want to rent a tuk tuk, make sure you request Pedro. I take my reviews very seriously because I rely on them in booking tours. His knowledge of the history and the area is beyond compare. We very much enjoyed Quinta de Regalaria and the history lesson from Pedro.

Visitar el Palacio Nacional de Sintra fue todo un acierto. Está ubicado justo en el centro histórico, lo que hace que sea muy accesible. Sus dos imponentes chimeneas blancas llaman la atención desde fuera, pero lo mejor está en el interior: la colección de azulejos tradicionales es impresionante y las salas (especialmente la Sala de los Escudos y la Sala de los Cisnes) están magníficamente conservadas. El recorrido dura entre 1 y 1.5 horas y se hace de forma muy fluida y cómoda. Recomendable comprar las entradas con antelación para evitar colas en las horas puntas. ¡Totalmente imprescindible si visitas Sintra!

Gothic towers, moss-covered gardens, hidden grottoes: every corner feels like a page from a fairytale. The highlight is the Initiation Well, a 27-metre spiral staircase descending into the earth, rich in Masonic symbolism. Dark tunnels lead from its base to a waterfall and a quiet lake. My friends from abroad were spellbound. Go early in the morning, bring a small flashlight for the tunnels, and take your time. Truly a must-see

Loved Pena Palace, truly a must see! Such an impressive piece pice of history. Spent a few hours you can be as long as you want or make it quicker. Plan on arriving in town at least an hour and a half before your time. Loved the Regaleira the well was a highlight there is so many lovely photo opportunities and it's like a fairytale castle. You must wait for your slotted time and will not be admitted early. Loved the day took train from Lisbon was wonderful!

Gracias a poder realizar mi reserva con antelación no tuve ningún tipo de problema a la hora de entrar en el palacio. Fue una visita espectacular, cada es ondite de sus jardines, las grutas por la cueva, los pasadillzos y las fachadas son preciosas. Una experiencia ideal para viajar con niños, amigos o en pareja. Hay que subir cuestas y es lo más cansado pero puedes sentarte en los bancos que hay. Lo recomiendo 100%

Moorish Castle

Built in the 8th century and soon taken over by the Christians after the fall of Lisbon in 1147, every aspect of the Moorish Castle speaks of its centuries-long history. From its most prominent feature, the castle walls, to the watchtower, the museum, and the interpretation centre, the Moorish Castle has a lot to offer.

Silos: Crater-like pits that were used to store crops and harvest, you must explore how these essentials were stored at the castle for extended durations.
