A coach transfer picks you up in Cairns and takes you to Freshwater Station, just outside the city, to board the Kuranda Scenic Railway.

What to expect on the Kuranda Scenic Railway

Opened in the 1890s, the railway climbs through Barron Gorge on a route carved into the mountainside, passing waterfalls along the way to Kuranda.

• Watch waterfalls and rainforest scenery from your carriage as the train climbs into Barron Gorge.

• Spend free time in Kuranda Village, known for its markets, boutique shops, and rainforest atmosphere.

• Board the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway with stops at Red Peak and Barron Falls stations to explore the rainforest canopy on foot (as per option selected).

• Travel to Hartley's by coach along the scenic Great Barrier Reef Drive, with driver guide commentary pointing out the coastal and rainforest views (as per option selected).

• Explore Hartley's boardwalks and pathways through woodland and rainforest to see koalas, kangaroos, wombats, cassowaries, and reptiles.

• Catch wildlife shows including the Wetlands Cruise, Snake Show, Crocodile Attack Show, and cassowary feeding.
